What are Peak Sun Hours?

A Peak Sun Hour (PSH) is one hour of sunlight at 1 kW/m² — roughly midday clear-sky intensity. The PSH value for a location is the equivalent number of peak hours per day, averaged over the year. It's the single most useful number when sizing solar panels and batteries: a 400 W panel in a location with 5.0 PSH produces about 2 kWh per day.

Each city page shows monthly PSH, seasonal variance, best and worst months, and an off-grid system-sizing calculator you can customize with your own loads.
